Fallen Daughter of Chapter Member Celebrated and Remembered in Community Center Dedication
When a member of our Fraternity is fallen or whenever a member of their family is fallen, we as Omega men fall in behind and beside them to show support. Brothers of The Super Chapter stood in the breach for Bro. Anthony McAllister and family recently when the chapter members joined the family for the somber dedication of a community center in their daughter’s honor in Northeast Washington, D.C., where she was tragically gunned down on Benning Road while watching a rap video filming during Spring Break 2017. Ironically, at the time the shooting occurred, she was in her freshman year at her father’s alma mater, St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, N.C., where she was studying criminology with the hopes of becoming a police detective. She was also an alumni of Gamma Pi's Project ENRICH college enrichment program. This Saturday, April 6, the family will hold a fundraising event in her honor through the foundation created for her memory and to address gun violence, the Ayana McAllister Legacy Foundation, to raise money for scholarships in her name.
